Covid 19 – Our actions to keep our guests, staff and community safe

Owen River Lodge is New Zealand’s finest luxury fishing lodge. We pride ourselves on meticulous attention to detail in every aspect of our operation, and do everything we can to ensure our guests are safe and well during their stay with us - this mantra has been in place long before the ever evolving impact of Covid 19.

Owen River Lodge operates within and above the recommended guidelines for organisations as per New Zealand’s Ministry of Health recommendations for Covid 19 management.

We have installed a Carbon Dioxide meter, HEPA filtration in the air-conditioning/heating system and an Air Purifier in the main dining area of the lodge and installed insect screens to aid in the circulation of fresh air.

Our housekeeping team have been trained and are supported to be extremely thorough in their daily services and guest room change outs. Every day, all touch surfaces are cleaned.

Traditionally, if we had a guest who has been unwell during their stay, our team have disinfected all surfaces in their guest cottage on their departure. Covid 19 has meant that we now do this deep sanitisation / deep cleaning to all our guest cottage suites on every guest check out.

We ensure hand sanitiser is easily accessed throughout the lodge, in the guest cottage suites, in our picnic hampers and in the fishing guides vehicles. In communal bathrooms, individual hand towels and/ or paper towel is available.

Our fishing guides are encouraged to disinfect all touchable surfaces in their vehicles and ensure they have access to hand sanitiser for their clients.

All our loan fishing gear is washed and dried after each guest. We have masks readily available if we have a guest who becomes unwell during their stay and we can adjust our dining layout to accommodate safe social distancing if required.

At Owen River Lodge we are attentive in responding to the needs, health and safety of our guests, our staff and the wider community – after all, we all live in a village.
