End of a HUGE season

Thank you for an epic 7 months!

The 2022/23 fishing season was Owen River Lodge’s biggest yet. We were completely booked out most of it, with half of those bookings being guests that have stayed & fished with us before. Some of you had patiently rolled your booking over for three whole years. That is huge. So before I fall in a heap and sleep for a month, I want to sincerely thank you for keeping the faith.

It was so good to see so many familiar faces, and to renew old friendships. Three years is a long time and a lot can happen, so thank you again for spending some of your precious time here at Owen River Lodge.

Sometimes the fly fishing was tough (thanks, weather); mostly it was very good. There were many, many quality wild brown trout landed to reassure us that they’re definitely still out there (and maybe a double digit or two). They’re just damn cunning. And that’s the challenge, right?

We’re turning 20—help us celebrate!
Next season is a special one—it’ll be 20 years since I opened the Lodge doors. Bookings are already way ahead of where they usually are at this time of year, and they continue at this rate, we’ll be full soon. So please, if you’re thinking of coming to help us celebrate Owen River Lodge’s 20th anniversary, book now. I really don’t like saying no to repeat guests .

Women-only fly-fishing retreat in 2024
We’ve just run this hugely popular event for the third time. It was our first with international guests, so all the right sort of mayhem ensued. These retreats are so much fun. The ORL team loves them, and so do I. The only requirement to attend is to be female, and bookings are open for next Womens only fly fishing retreat being held 6 > 12 April 2024. Thanks to you, Owen River Lodge has been a winner in Condé Nast Traveler’s Reader’s Choice Awards for the last three years running. So the question is: can we do it again? I can honestly say that it’s not about being greedy; I just love it that a remote fishing lodge at the bottom of the world keeps beating all these multinational corporate juggernauts!
