This is THE season to fly fish New Zealand !

December 21, 2014

If you’ve ever thought about fly fishing for huge wild brown trout in New Zealand, then this season is the time to come !

Why I hear you say ?

Well to cut a long story short, there is a mice and rat plague in the beech forests in some parts of the South Island of New Zealand.

These furry little critters are swimming across our rivers and being eaten greedily by the browns. This is seeing them grow expediently with 4 lb fish rapidly becoming 6 lb fat footballs !

In the past few weeks our guests have landed numerous fish of a lifetime with several 8lb brown being caught as well as a couple 9 lb and a 10.25 lb brown landed. And of course the chances of landing a double digit trophy have grown substantially too.

Barry and Cathy Beck are hosting a trip in February – right at the height of the terrestrial/dry fly season and we still have some limited availability

  • 9 > 18 February: 1 guest cottage suite
  • 11 > 18 February: 1 guest cottage suite

We have also had a last minute cancellation and therefore have 3 guest cottage suites available February 18 > 25.

This limited availability will not last long!
