I have been an educator for 27 years and I still get excited about teaching, especially fly casting! Part of my role at Owen River Lodge is providing complementary casting lessons for guests. Lessons are tailored to individual guests requests and/or identified needs and can be anything from starting right at the beginning, for those who have never fly fished before, to those who just want some fine tuning or practice before they get out on the water.

I got inspired to learn to fly fish through a chance meeting with a Scottish fly fisherman, while on a spin fishing family holiday in Australia in 2008.
My interest grew, as with frustration in learning to get the line out there, so I took the opportunity to join a fly-fishing club and learn from the club’s Casting Instructors.

My thirst for learning lead to completing my FFI Certified Casting Instructor certification in July 2013 and at the time became the second female CCI in the southern hemisphere, and the only female CCI in New Zealand.
