| My last newsletter was all
about mice eating trout. Well, I can now confirm that the trout have
certainly been feeding away on our enlarged mice population. All the
fishing guides that work with the lodge are reporting that the
"average" fish is 20 to 30% bigger than one would normally expect. Now
this isn't happening in all our rivers, but it's certainly happening in
a significant number of them. |
| The season is a mere 8 weeks
old and all the fishing records for the lodge have been blown out of
the water. We have had more double digit (The magic 10lb mark) fish
caught so far this season than all other seasons combined.

Tom & Regan from
Portland stayed with us in mid November. They had what can only be
described as 3 magical days fishing, setting a lodge record that may
stay in place for many a year.
Between them they landed 7 fish in the 5 to 6lb range, 2 at 8.lb+, 3 at
9lb, 2 at 10lb+ and on the last day Regan landed an absolute monster at
12.5lb.

| At the same time we had the
delightful Nick stay with us for 10 days of action packed fishing. Nick
is an Englishman, living in Austria, who also fulfilled the double
digit dream by landing a stunning wilderness caught 10lb brown.

| David & Wayne from NSW
made it 4 seasons in a row with their early season November stay with
us. David landed his largest brown to date at a tad over 8lb. |

| Long time fishing buddies Ian
& Michael from Australia spent a week with us recently and
Michael landed this slippery 8lb brownie. |
| Bill & Dan from the
USA also had some luck in the Owen River landing these 2 browns. |
| Herby travelled the least
distance to fish at the lodge – he's based in Christchurch. Herby
landed this lovely 7.5lb trout just up the river from the Lodge in the
Owen River. |

Professor Ned & his
delightful partner Tish (Kiwis living in Australia) visited us for
their second taste of Owen River Lodge fishing. Ned has also entered
the lofty heights of the 10lb club with this behemoth.
